Peer Review Process
The Journal of Healthcare Systems, Practice and Research (JHSPR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, transparent, and ethical peer-review process. All submitted manuscripts undergo independent evaluation to ensure scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's scope.
TYPE OF PEER REVIEW
JHSPR follows a double-blind peer-review process, whereby:
- The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers.
- The identities of reviewers are concealed from authors.
This approach promotes objective and unbiased assessment based solely on the scientific merit, quality, and originality of the submitted work.
REVIEW PROCESS
Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor to determine:
- Relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
- Originality and scientific significance.
- Compliance with submission guidelines and ethical standards.
- Overall quality and suitability for peer review.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors without external review.
Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to independent experts with relevant subject expertise. Each manuscript is typically evaluated by at least two qualified reviewers who assess the scientific and scholarly merit of the work.
Peer Review Evaluation
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and novelty of the research.
- Scientific rigor and methodological soundness.
- Clarity of presentation and organization.
- Validity of results and conclusions.
- Relevance to healthcare systems, clinical practice, and related disciplines.
- Compliance with ethical and reporting standards.
Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations to assist both the authors and the editorial team in the evaluation process.
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewer reports and editorial assessment, one of the following decisions may be issued:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
Authors receive anonymized reviewer comments and are provided an opportunity to revise their manuscript when revisions are requested.
Revision and Re-evaluation
Revised manuscripts should be accompanied by a detailed response addressing reviewer comments. Depending on the extent of revisions required, the manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation before a final decision is reached.
Final Acceptance and Publication
Once a manuscript satisfies the scientific, ethical, and editorial requirements of the journal, it is formally accepted for publication and proceeds to production, copyediting, proofreading, and online publication.
Review Timeline
JHSPR recognizes the importance of timely dissemination of scientific research. The journal strives to provide authors with an efficient review process, and every effort is made to communicate the first editorial decision within 4-6 weeks of submission. Actual review times may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
Ethical Standards
All reviewers and editors are expected to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality, objectivity, and professional ethics. Potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed, and manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit.
